30 Day Challenge: Day 30!

I made it to Day 30 and almost forgot to post it! I love the rust color of these cords next to the black and white polka dot. I wore this shirt a few days ago, but it looks completely different in this context. This sleeveless terry top is one of my favorite pieces. I wore it alone with jeans when the weather was warmer, and now that it is cooler I layer a shirt underneath.

Key Pieces:

  • Terry Top: G.H. Bass 2013
  • Shirt: J. Crew Factory 2012
  • Pants: Gap 2011
  • Boots: G.H. Bass
  • Watch: Alfresco Unique Group, via Etsy

30 Day Challenge: Day 29, Shirt Dress

I do not know why I bought this dress; the color is so unflattering. It is pretty much the same color as my skin. But, this is a challenge, so I am trying to make it work. My goal was to not let the dress be directly next to my skin, hence the addition of the chambray shirt and grey leggings. I am on the fence with this one...

30 Day Challenge: Day 28, Triangles

I look like my mom!

 Loving these heels!

Does it get any better than jeans and a sweatshirt? They are my top 2 favorite pieces of clothing. This was a plain grey sweatshirt until last night when I decided to add some nail heads to the sleeves. (I will add a DIY post soon!) I like how it came out! I would like to rave about these Gap Always Skinny Jeans for a second. They fit great, are comfortable, and look good on almost every body type. For $69 I think they are an incredible value and the best jean in their price point. (Plus if you catch a sale, you can get them for 30% off). These heels add a little sass to an otherwise casual look. Usually, I shy away from heels, but this chunky heel and rounded toe make them easy to walk in.

Key Pieces:
Sweatshirt: Old Navy with some DIY
White Shirt: H&M 2010
Jeans: Gap Always Skinny Jeans
Shoes: Lucky via Ruelala
Flag necklace: Jewel Mint

30 Day Challenge: Day 27, Neutral Color Blocking

I like how this outfit is pretty neutral, yet still interesting because of the color blocked sweater and dot pants. A sweater + skinny bottoms is what I feel the most "myself" in, so I really enjoyed wearing this look.

Key Pieces:
  • Sweater: Old Navy 2013
  • Shirt: G.H. Bass 2010
  • Pants: Uniqlo 2012
  • Boots: Lucky

30 Day Challenge: Day 26, Mod

I think I have only worn this dress once besides today. For some reason I think it is too serious or boring or something, so I decided to fix that. Layering the plaid shirt underneath makes it feel a little more fun and casual. My haircut plus the dress is sort of reminiscent of a flight attendant from the 60's, but I'm ok with that!

Please note: when I got inside I had to put on black leggings because it is SO COLD today. The outfit looks good with leggings too :)

Key Pieces:

  • Dress: Mango 2012
  • Shirt: Americal Eagle 2009
  • Necklace: American Eagle 2009
  • Bag: Dooney and Bourke vintage
  • Boots: Frye 2012

30 Day Challenge: Day 25, Black and White

This is another Spring dress that works well in the Fall. All I needed was leggings and boots. I added the jacket for some extra polish. I feel like my wardrobe has doubled now that I am stretching my warm weather clothing into cooler weather.

Key Pieces:
  • Dress: Tommy Hilfiger 2011
  • Jacket: Lucky 2007
  • Leggings: H&M
  • Necklace: C Wonder 2012
  • Boots: Frye (last year's splurge!)

30 Day Challenge: Day 21, Polished but Casual

I am starting to become a fan of the "denim tuxedo". As long as you have a light wash on top/dark wash on bottom (or vise versa) it looks really fresh. I decided to dress this one up with my favorite jacket and a statement necklace.

Key Pieces:

  • Jacket: H&M 2012
  • Shirt: Gap 2012
  • Jeans: Levi's Bold Curve Skinny Jeans
  • Necklace: I have had this since college. I think it is from H&M.
  • Boots: Lucky

30 Day Challenge: Day 20, Rainy Day

I have made it to Day 20, and it is a gloomy one. At least I am warm and comfortable! The color of this scarf brightens up the grey and navy. I have had these rain boots for years, and they still keep my feet dry.

Key Pieces:

  • Jacket: Exprit 2011
  • Sweater Dress: Old Navy 2013
  • Scarf: Brooklyn Industries 2012
  • Rain Boots: Tretorn via Zappos
  • Unbrella: free from Google event

30 Day Challenge: Day 19, Birds

Birds! I think the pops of red in this look make it fun. A red lip is quickly becoming my favorite "accessory". This one is actually just a lip liner. I didn't have a scarf that matched this tunic, so I decided to layer 3 necklaces to add some interest.

30 Day Challenge: Day 17, Maxi Skirt

This outfit is stepping out for me. It is quite bold, and I usually like to be a little more casual/classic. This challenge is about trying new things, so I did! I usually wear this skirt in the summer with sandals and a white top. Now that I am looking at the pics, I wish I layered my jean jacket over it.

Key Pieces:

  • Top: Gap 2012
  • Skirt: Uniqlo 2013
  • Belt: very old
  • Boots: very old
  • Necklace: gift from my in-laws in Africa

30 Day Challenge: Day 14, Fall Colors

For this look, I wanted to do something with fall colors. I love the rust color of this sweater, so I started there, then accessorized with a yellow necklace and red shoes. Because I already had a bunch of color going on, I chose a neutral grey top to ground everything. This outfit will be perfect for the cider tasting I am going to tonight!

Key Pieces:

  • Cardigan: Old Navy 2011
  • Top: Joie 2012 via sample sale
  • Jeans: Gap Always Skinny
  • Shoes: Seychelles
  • Necklace: random cheap accessory store which I do not remember, sorry.

30 Day Challenge: Day 13, Halloween!!!

Bert and Mary Poppins

Feed the birds...

Halloween is not an exception from this 30 Day Challenge. I am so excited that not only mine, but my husband's costume is from our closet! The only thing I needed to purchase was the black felt for the hat. (Craft materials are within the rules). Two costumes for $3 is a good deal! I think we look pretty cute! Sometimes it is nice to have a classy Halloween costume.

Key Pieces:

Mary Poppins:

  • Shirt: J. Crew 2012
  • Skirt: Zara, very old
  • Shoes: Steve Madden 2011
  • Bow tie: made from ribbon with safety pin
  • Hat: made from felt with hydrangea from my back yard
  • Pigeon: usually used as our Christmas tree topper (yea that's right)
  • Gloves: from costumes of years past
Bert:
  • Chimney Sweep: made from curtain rod and leftover felt from Mary's hat
  • Vest: Hollander & Lexer
  • Shirt: Scotch and Soda
  • Pants: Calvin Klein
  • Hat: H&M
  • Shoes: G.H. Bass

30 Day Challenge: Day 12, Preppy Yellow

This is actually a dress layered with a sweater to make it look like a skirt. I am starting to really like print mixing. As long as you use different scales of print/pattern it can look really good!

Key Pieces:
  • Sweater: Gap 2011
  • Dress: Old Navy 2013
  • Boots: Guess 2011
  • Bag: Dooney and Bourke vintage

30 Day Challenge: Day 11, Look Good Feel Good

I feel great in this outfit. When you look good, you feel good! I think the blazer makes me feel powerful and professional. Purple is also my favorite color, but I think this is the only purple thing I own, huh. I love how the mustard color of the shoes contrasts with the brightness of the jacket. My legs (my least favorite body part) look pretty amazing too. Thanks again, Uniqlo!

Key Pieces:
  • Jacket: H&M 2012
  • Cami: Urban Outfitters 2011
  • Pants: Uniqlo 2013
  • Necklace: C Wonder
  • Shoes: vintage
